Foods that Boost Your Immune System

Most of us have heard the saying: "an apple a day keeps the doctor away". But, how true is this saying? Can food really keep someone healthy? Here is a list of the top five foods that can help boost your immune system, and, in the long run, keep you away from the doctor.

1. Shellfish
Shellfish helps white blood cells produce cytokines which is a protein that fights flu-viruses.

2. Chicken soup
Chicken soup actually helps to keep white blood cells from swelling and accumulating, the definition of the cause of the common cold.

3. Garlic
Garlic contains allicin which helps to fight infection.

4. Yogurt
Those probiotics found in yogurt are actually disease-causing-germ-eating bacteria. Perfect, right?

5. Oats
Oats contain a lot of fiber which is important for your digestive system as well as supports wound healing.
