I've been dying to clean my dresser for ages. There were crumbs from a broken eyebrow kit, unopened and unused makeup, and really no sense of organization. To spare you guys a lot of grossness, I didn't take a "before" picture, as it was really just a mess of products across the top of my dresser. After removing everything from the top of my dresser, I wiped down the surface with Windex a couple of times, making sure to get rid of all the discarded makeup. Then, I took to 99Dresses (an app where you can sell your stuff) to sell all my unopened, unwanted makeup, selling most of them pretty quickly. I also made sure to clean the dust off each product. Here, I'll explain how I organized each section.
On top of my drawer box, where I keep all my hair accessories and makeup replacements (I have seconds or third bottles of the products I really like), I have my most used products and my frequently used combs. I like keeping them especially separate from the rest of my products, so it's especially easy to pick them out. I also put all my useless decorations here, such as my paper tissue flowers from second grade and a finger puppet I got as a birthday present (which is especially useful because I lost the cap to my Aussie leave-in conditioner). That way, they won't get in the way of the rest of my stuff.
In the corner there, I keep hair products I don't typically use: hairspray, body oil, heat protection cream, etc. Other than those products, this section is for all my face products, divided between makeup on the left and skincare on the right. Towards the back are products that I only use occasionally, while the ones in the more easily accessible front are my daily products. Primer, BB creams, and tinted moisturizer I really only use for special occasions. However, I use powder (I put the one I use more frequently on top), blush and all my eyebrow products (I'm down to stubs for my two eyebrow pencils from Clinique and Makeup Forever as you can see) everyday.
In the back are my special occasion perfumes. Since those are a little heavier, I wear them when I go out at night or for big events. Similarly, my lippies are in the back. The ones that can't stand up are held in place by my standing lipsticks. I have my chapsticks a little closer up with my two eyeliners from Prestige and my contacts case, as those are all used pretty much daily. The rest are my daily nighttime skincare products. I switch off between these products based on the condition of my skin that day, but I like having them all lined up and available. Finally, I have a nice plate, which holds all the jewelry I wear frequently.
To the far right of my dresser, I have a similar arrangement. The sun box (which I made at the Clay Room in Brookline when I was in second grade) holds jewelry I almost never wear. I keep my makeup wipes in the back, as I no longer really use them (I prefer Pond's cold cream now). In the wooden box are my contacts. The cup meanwhile holds my makeup brushes and concealers. They're easily reachable, and I threw a lot of old products out to keep it as empty as possible. The clay pot in the front holds my pencil eyeliners; I like that they're so separate, because it helps distinguish them from my cup of concealers. I also put all my lighter perfumes to the front (on the bottom left of this picture) for daily use, as well my trusty argan oil for my hair. I keep this hair product here, because I always dab a little on flyaway hairs in the morning and keeping it next to my daily perfume is a good reminder for me, as I often forget to do anything with my hair.

I'm so glad I decided to finally take the time to clean my dresser top. My morning routine has greatly diminished... I no longer have to dig through a large pile to find what I want! Also, I do have to say that I now breathe in significantly less dust in the morning...
