Congrats! You made it through your workout. However, now you've got to make sure you eat the right food afterwards so that your blood sugar doesn't crash, you replenish the energy you've exerted, and you don't binge to counteract all the hard work. Protein is important to make sure that you feel full and provide energy so that your body can start building muscle. Carbohydrates provide the energy to your blood to make sure you avoid that crash.

These post workout meals provide protein, carbohydrates and are healthy yet delicious.

Chicken stir-fry with white rice: the chicken provides lean protein, the vegetables give vital nutrients and the white rice replenishes the glucose lost faster than brown rice

Veggie omelet with avocado: the egg provides protein, the vegetables give vital nutrients and the avocado provides mono-saturated fat which breaks down to lots of vitamins

Salmon with sweet potatoes: salmon provides protein alongside bioactive peptides which help with joint recovery and the sweet potatoes replenish glucose

Tuna, hummus and spinach on whole wheat bread sandwich: tuna is a low calorie fish with lots of protein and carbohydrates, hummus also provides both protein and carbohydrates, spinach helps to lower blood pressure to avoid a spike and then a crash

Chocolate milk: while not a meal, this drink has everything - carbohydrates, protein, and water
